Moira Canal Festival
16 May 2026 - 17 May 2026
16 May 2026 - 17 May 2026
The Moira Canal Festival is a family event to be held every year on the restored section of the Ashby Canal, at the historic Moira Furnace Museum. It aims to raise awareness of, and money for, the restoration, extension and maintenance of the Ashby Canal.
There will be a planned Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, music with an assortment of local and national bands and singers over the weekend. Morris dancing will liven things up, there will be crafty fun and entertainment for the children, live steam, train rides, a variety of stalls and demonstrations, boats, bar and refreshments. This will all revolve around the banks of the Ashby Canal at Moira Furnace at the Heart of the National Forest. And meet Mother Duck and her ducklings and enter a duck in the annual Duck Race along the Ashby Canal!
A selection of old and vintage cars is certain to intrigue and amaze visitors of all ages, from Armstrong Siddeleys to Triumphs, the Canal Festival has got them all. Plus, it really wouldn’t be a canal festival without boats on the water… The Moira Canal Festival is held on the isolated section of the Ashby Canal between Donisthorpe and Moira. This means that the festival is accessible to trailable boats of ALL descriptions. The more the merrier! See their website for information on booking spaces for canal boats and classic car exhibits!
