Ten acres of community-owned land with camping and a Yurt
Whistlewood is ten acres of community-owned land in Melbourne. The site is designed along permaculture principles (a sustainable design framework) so that it will work for people, wildlife and be a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds to visit and stay. Whistlewood encourages an appreciation of nature and the outdoors, by being part of it, not just an outside observer.
People young and old love it as somewhere they can feel relaxed and close to nature. Everyone is welcome – bring your own tent, campervan or hire our cosy Yurt and stay overnight. Other facilities include our beautiful Roundhouse which you can hire for daytime events. We encourage you to pick our local produce whilst on site that you can use for your cooking, We also have a kitchen, covered shelter, campfire and children’s play facilities.
The site also hosts events, workshops and educational opportunities that help people understand how to live more sustainably and bring our community closer – to make it a better place to live and help us face future challenges.
