Melbourne Animal Farm
A 10 acre site in the beautiful countryside, located just at the edge of Melbourne, Derbyshire, known for its more natural open farm space and a family farm rather than a busy commercial run farm.
The Melbourne Animal Farm have a range of farm animals, including a love of miniature Southdown sheep, often known as Babydoll or Teddy bear sheep. They breed these miniature Southdown sheep on the farm, who go on to help other breeders build up this once rare breed sheep. A special few stay behind to continue this process.
The Farm has an inside play area that includes ride on toys and a Dinosaur Bouncy Castle, as well as outside play with climbing frame, ride on toys, a sand pit and a play house.
A particular stand-out amongst the indoor areas of the site is a small animal handling barn, which houses all of the Farm’s rabbits, guinea pigs, a few tortoises, plus – seasonally – chicks and ducklings. The animal handling barn welcomes small children and offers them an opportunity to get up close to the animals, as well as groom them and share some cuddles!
There is also a space available for private hire, which is home to seasonal events on from time to time.
The Melbourne Animal Farm closes to general admission for the Autumn/Winter period and reopens again in February, so keep an eye on their social media pages for updates!
