Swarkestone Pavilion
A Landmark Trust property – the excuse for building the majestic little Swarkestone Pavilion was to give a grandstand view of whatever went on in the enclosure in front of it. Suggestions range from the romantic (jousting) and the rough (bear-baiting) to the more prosaic (bowls). Probably the latter as there is evidence of a payment in 1632 for a ‘bowle alley house’.
The very quirky accommodation can sleep 2 people in the open plan style layout, whilst the bathroom is a quick ‘flit’ across the roof to one of the turrets! However if being immersed in history is a passion, you will love this escape from the norm!
You will be spoilt for things to do, places to visit and excellent food and drink within easy reach of your holiday accommodation.
