Dragonflies on the water, birdsong in the trees and a vision lovingly brought to life by Reb and Pete.
This morning we had the privilege of spending some time at Nuroosa, and I’ve been staring at the photos on my phone ever since, trying to work out why they just don’t tell the story.
The truth is, they never could.
You can photograph the trees, the stunning spaces, the beautiful details and thoughtfully designed structures, but you can’t photograph the smell of the woodland on a warm morning. You can’t capture the birdsong that seems to echo from every direction. You can’t quite record that feeling of being completely at peace, surrounded by nature, where the outside world quietly fades away.
And that’s what struck me most about Nuroosa. It’s not simply a venue. It is a feeling!

After reading about Reb and Pete’s vision and then experiencing the space for ourselves, it became immediately obvious that this place hasn’t just been built – it has been lovingly created. Reb and Pete have poured themselves into creating a gathering place inspired by their experiences, values and love of people, nature and meaningful connection.
Walking around, there is a sense that absolutely everything has a purpose. Every path, every gathering space, every carefully considered detail feels intentional. You can almost see the blood, sweat and – I imagine – the tears that have gone into creating something so special.
Dragonflies skimmed effortlessly across the water, their delicate wings catching the light as they danced just above the surface. It was one of those small moments that perfectly sums up Nuroosa; nature isn’t something added to the venue, it is the venue. Every glance seemed to reveal another tiny wonder, another reason to stop, breathe and simply be present. The gentle ripple of the water, the hum of life in the trees and the dragonflies gliding by created a sense of calm that no photograph could ever truly capture.

And then there are the details, the lampshades hanging beautifully throughout the space, some designed by Reb herself. The eco-conscious touches. The earthy, sustainable toilets. The cupboards filled with crockery, ready for people to gather, celebrate, connect and create memories together. These aren’t features added for effect; they are expressions of genuine care and thoughtfulness.
What impressed me most was that nothing feels manufactured, the seating area by a wild water pool is made from an old gym floor, the little details so beautifully etched from children’s’ feet who have played there before.
Nuroosa feels self-curated, authentic and deeply personal.

You are welcomed warmly, not because somebody is following a customer service script, but because there is a genuine pride in what has been created here. Reb and Pete aren’t simply running a venue; they are sharing a dream that has been years in the making. Their passion is impossible to miss.
As we wandered around, I found myself imagining all the possibilities this incredible space holds.
- Weddings beneath the trees.
- Family celebrations filled with laughter.
- Creative workshops and retreats where people reconnect with themselves and each other.
- Corporate events that inspire fresh thinking.
- Thoughtful celebrations of life where memories can be shared in beautiful surroundings.
The vision extends far beyond what exists today, and yet somehow everything already feels complete.
From the carefully chosen local produce to the locally brewed beers shared among friends and family, every detail feels connected to the land, the community and the values that sit at the heart of Nuroosa.
Interestingly, none of those events were taking place around us for most of our visit. Yet I could almost hear them. The laughter. The clinking of glasses. Conversations drifting through the trees. The excited anticipation before a ceremony. Children exploring woodland corners. And yes, perhaps the occasional mischievous imp jumping between the branches, perfectly at home amongst the magic of the place.
There was a wedding taking place during our visit, and seeing people enjoying the space exactly as it was intended only reinforced what we were already feeling. Nuroosa provides a backdrop, but somehow it also becomes part of the story. That’s a rare quality.

So this blog comes with a confession. I cannot do Nuroosa justice.
Neither my words nor my photographs can fully convey what it’s like to stand there, breathe it in and experience it for yourself. Some places simply have to be felt.
If you’re looking for somewhere to host a wedding, a celebration, a gathering, a retreat, a corporate event, or a meaningful farewell, my advice is simple: go and talk to Reb and Pete. Listen to their story. Walk the grounds. Experience the vision they have worked so hard to bring to life. Watch the video below, only then will you truly understand what I mean.
Nuroosa is stunning.
Not just because of how it looks.
But because of how it makes you feel. ❤️
