Aston-on-Trent

Unspoilt rural village in South Derbyshire, approximately four miles east of Derby city, on the north bank of the River Trent with the Trent and Mersey Canal running between the village and the river. A small thriving village with a very active social calendar providing activities and events for all ages, from the very young to the young at heart. Local amenities include the All Saints Church dating back to Celtic Times.

Aston was mentioned in the Domesday book, is near to the site of a Neolithic settlement and has a wealth of social and working heritage. Until the early twentieth century much of the village and adjoining land was owned by wealthy families, and is now a Conservation Area containing a number of old and fascinating buildings. The annual Well Dressing Festival every July brings many visitors to view the locally decorated tableaux along with accompanying stalls and entertainment.
