The Tollgate Brewery is continuing their work with the Melbourne Footpaths Group to provide excellent circular walks with their third route – the 6 mile Hartshorne Circular.
The Tollgate Brewery walks are available on the Komoot app and anyone looking for a more detailed map are suggested to use OS Explorer 245 – The National Forest.
The key highlights and points of interest on this route are:
- Hartshorne
- Picturesque village, with a long history in agriculture and coal mining, that offers great views of the surrounding woodlands.
- The National Forest Way
- 75-mile long walking route that connects Burton-on-Trent to Ashby-de-la-Zouch and spans across the National Forest; offering a unique glimpse into the UK’s reforestation efforts.
- Daniel Hayes Farm
- A historic site showcasing the area’s connection to agriculture and the local landscape. The farm itself dates back to the 13th century, with the current buildings dating to at least the 16th century.
- Pistern Hills
- A scenic escarpment known for its gentle hills and lush greenery and for providing rolling countryside views and a peaceful natural environment.
