Melbourne to Kings Newton walk
A walk through three villages in South Derbyshire discovering rolling countryside, parkland and a former railway line. Along the way a short detour is made to the Holy Well, a source of drinking water for Kings Newton. Continue across Newton Park before linking up with the former Derby to Ashby-de-la-Zouch railway which was opened in 1867. The walk then passes through Wilson before reaching Melbourne Park and the pretty Georgian town of Melbourne with its historic buildings, 20 acre Melbourne Pool and rest stops aplenty.
An easy walk with little ascent or descent. Note: The farmland can get muddy.
Melbourne is easily reachable on the B587, just off the A514 Derby to Swadlincote road.
