Milton and Foremark Walk
The walk commences in the village of Milton, east of Repton. The walk can also be started from the main car park at Foremark Reservoir, in which case you should join the bridleway between points 13 and 14 on the map. For a more detailed map you are recommended to refer to Ordnance Survey Explorer 245: The National Forest.
The walk takes you out of Milton to Repton Park pond and then on to Carvers Rocks Nature Reserve at the Southern end of Foremark Reservoir. Carvers Rocks is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and was the largest sandstone quarry in Hartshorne providing the best building stone in the area. Here are marsh, bog, heath, woodland and one of the last patches of lowland heath in Derbyshire.
From Carvers Rocks the walk then continues around Foremark Reservoir. The reservoir is treasured for its wildlife habitats and is a centre for those who love the outdoors. You can enjoy bird watching and trout fishing, participate in watersports, cycling and walking trails surrounded by woodlands. There are waymarked trails for walkers and many picnic areas to take in the beautiful surroundings. There is a also a children’s play area and refreshments available from the Visitor Centre.
Disabled access available to most areas and whether you want to participate or just watch others, Foremark Reservoir has so much to offer.
