Group Open Gardens – Repton
Repton is a thriving village dating back to Anglo Saxon times. The village gardens are all very different, ranging from the very small to very large, several of them have new features for 2026.
Serendipity – DE65 6FP
Serendipity was builtĀ in the curtilage of Repton School in 1999.
The front and back gardens are developed from new. The front garden is simple and in keeping with the elegance of the school. The rear garden , accessed by steps and path by the side of the house, is a shady woodland garden with a variety of themes and areas of different functions. It is designed to be easy maintenance; if there is such a thing. The gardens are bordered to the left by a formidable old hedge and to the right by’ Ernieās wallā, a monument to his skills and energy and a reminder of the rock upon which Serendipity stands. Warning to real gardeners; we are simple labourers not plantsmen.
Mr and Mrs Chris Chilton
Open Monday 6th April, Monday 4th May Wednesday 3rd June.
Askew Cottage 23 Milton Road DE65 6FZ
The garden has beenĀ radically altered aroundĀ the entrance garden because of the moth-devastation of the Box hedging, which has all now been removed. The new planting has quickly become established and it will be a riot of tulips for the spring openings.
The rear garden, which was designed to give year-round interest with several different areas connected with flowing curved paths, remains much the same. Beech and yew hedges enclose the spaces, giving structure, and acting as a backdrop to areas of both shade and sun-loving planting.
There will be abundant spring bulbs for the May openings, squirrels notwithstanding.
This garden opens for By Arrangement visits from 5 May to September for groups of between 5 and 30, please contact the garden owner to discuss your requirements and arrange a date for a group or bespoke visit.
Repton Allotments Monsom Lane DE65 6FX
Set on the edge of Repton with lovely views over the Derbyshire countryside.
There are about 26 plots growing many types of vegetables and flowers too, a Community Garden is a recent addition and now two communal polytunnels.
In 2024 the allotments were given a special judges award in the Britain in Bloom competition.
Open Monday 6th April, Monday 4th May Wednesday 3rd June.
