A large urban village garden developed over many years but predominantly in the last 10 to support as many wild birds, mammals and insects coming to the garden as possible. Many species of bird nest and raise their young here. The bats fly at dusk catching insects, and frogs abound especially in the long grass of the small meadow. Many varieties of butterfly and moth have been seen. There are numerous trees; large oak, ash and beech trees with preservation orders and young ornamental trees. Old privet and native hedging surrounds the boundary providing habitat and the garden is planted with many unusual shrubs and flowers.
Rambling roses and clematis climb through flowering fruit and conifer trees. Small flowering cornus and cersis trees. Ornamental ponds with mature fish. Plants with nectar rich flowers for bees and pollinators. Perennial wildflower meadow. Natural pond for spawning newts and frogs. Beehives, wood stack for hedgehogs, mice and insects. Gardens with sculpture and glass art surround house.
