Discover one of Derbyshire’s hidden artistic gems this summer with a visit to The Secret Sculpture Garden at Melbourne Hall.
Set within the beautiful historic gardens of Melbourne Hall, this special exhibition brings together 36 contemporary sculptures by leading regional artists, thoughtfully displayed amongst Melbourne Hall’s remarkable collection of antique sculptures. Wander through hidden pathways, formal gardens and tranquil corners as art and nature come together in a truly unique setting.
The Secret Sculpture Garden forms part of the lead Melbourne Festival Art & Architecture Trail, offering visitors an inspiring day out combining contemporary art, heritage and stunning gardens.
Opening Times
Gardens-Every afternoon in August (except the first three Mondays), then Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 1pm- 5pm.
Hall-Â Open from 2pm, with last entry at 4.15pm.

The Secret Sculpture Garden at Melbourne Hall features works by 10 regional sculptors, brought together as part of Creative Melbourne’s “Humanity, Nature & Creativity” sculpture trail inspired by the work of South Derbyshire sculptor Ronald Pope.

Accessibility information:
- Most (not all)Â areas are accessible to wheelchair users, mobility scooter users, and visitors with buggies.
- Some parts of the gardens have steep slopes, steps, and uneven paths, particularly where tree roots have affected surfaces, although alternative routes are generally available.
- Disabled toilets are available on site. (Not verified for size)
- Assistance dogs are welcome, although other dogs are not permitted in the gardens.
- There is limited parking nearby, and Visit South Derbyshire notes that there is no dedicated disabled parking on site.
